Youth Photography & Safety Policy

DurkinPhotos photographs youth sports, school, and community events. This policy describes the safeguards we use when we do.

How we work

• We work through the event host. We follow its access rules, photography restrictions, and participant opt-outs.
• We photograph only in approved event and portrait locations. We do not photograph in locker rooms, changing areas, restrooms, training rooms, or other private spaces.
• We do not initiate private contact with minors. If a minor contacts us about photographs, we direct the conversation through a parent, guardian, or the event host.
• Individual portrait sessions are held in an observable, interruptible location. A parent or guardian may attend.

People working an event

We send only photographers who meet the host’s documented screening and credentialing requirements. Before an event, they are briefed on this policy and the host’s applicable rules, and identify themselves as the venue requires.

Permissions and restrictions

The event host provides the participation permissions, photography restrictions, and opt-outs that apply to its event. Before the event, we ask the host to tell us about any participant who may not be photographed, published, or publicly shown for safety reasons. We honor those restrictions.

We use identifiable youth photographs to promote DurkinPhotos only when the event host has given documented authorization that covers the intended promotional use.

Galleries and photo processing

Youth galleries are private by default. They are not publicly listed, searchable, or browsable, and are shared through access-controlled links or other access controls selected for the event. A public youth gallery requires the event host’s approval.

We do not use youth photographs to train machine-learning models or provide them to others for that purpose.

Face matching to help a family find similar photographs is disabled by default. We may enable it only within a single event when the event host has documented its approval and applicable notice and consent requirements have been satisfied. We do not use it to match people across events.

Camera originals are deleted 180 days after an event. Delivered gallery images may remain available while the gallery is active so families can view, order, or download them.

Removal requests

A parent or guardian may ask us to remove photographs of their child without an account or explanation. Contact us at privacy@durkin.photos or use the removal request in an event gallery. After we verify the request, we aim to complete it within five business days and prioritize safety-related requests.

When we delete a photograph, we delete it from systems under our control. We cannot recall copies already downloaded, purchased, or delivered to the event host.

Concerns

If you have a concern about a DurkinPhotos photographer’s conduct, contact the event host and privacy@durkin.photos. If a child may be in immediate danger, call emergency services first.
